    • 1. What is the Membership Rewards programme?


      Membership Rewards is the American Express® loyalty programme that rewards Card Members that regularly spend with their American Express Cards through Membership Rewards points. The more you spend, the more Membership Rewards points that can be accrued. Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for a wide variety of travel rewards, shopping rewards and entertainment rewards. Points can also be transferred to other loyalty programmes such as Airline Rewards Frequent Flyer and Hotel Rewards Frequent Guest Partner Programmes*.

    • 3. Do Membership Rewards points expire?


      There is no expiry for points earned while in the programme as long as you are a Card Member, you are enrolled in the programme and all your accounts with us are active and kept in good standing and not overdue. If you choose to cancel your enrolment in the programme, the points will be forfeited and will be unable to be reinstated.

    • 4. How do I earn points?


      In most instances you can earn 1 Membership Rewards point for every $1 spent on your American Express Card. Simply charge your everyday purchases to your American Express Card and watch the points add up*. See more on earning points.


      Platinum Edge Credit Card


      With the Platinum Edge Credit Card® you receive complimentary enrolment in the Membership Rewards programme and:

        • Earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major supermarkets*
        • Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major petrol stations*
        • Earn 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on all other purchases*


      Platinum Charge Card and Platinum Membership Rewards Credit Card


      With the Platinum Charge Card and Platinum Membership Rewards Credit Card you earn 2 Membership Rewards points for every $1 spent on your Card. If you are enrolled in Membership Rewards with Turbo you will earn 2 Membership Rewards points for every $1 you spend. Only available to Card Members enrolled in Turbo prior to 01 March 2010

      * Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards programme. Participating retailers include the following merchants who have been classified as "major supermarkets": Countdown, Countdown Online, Farro Fresh, FreshChoice, New World, Nosh, PAK'nSAVE and SuperValue. Participating retailers include the following merchants who have been classified as "major petrol stations": BP, Caltex, GAS (Gasoline Alley Services), Gull, Mobil, Shell and Z. Exceptions may apply if an individual merchant trading as one of the above named retailers does not accept American Express as a form of payment. Purchases at major supermarket & major petrol station retailers are only eligible for additional points if the transactions are made in New Zealand.


      You can also earn points by adding Supplementary Card to your account. All the spend on your Supplementary Cards will earn points that contribute to your account. Supplementary Card Holders will also share some of the services and privileges American Express membership offers.

    • 5. How do I redeem points?


      Redeeming is easy. Visit membershiprewards.co.nz and search for your favourite reward. You will need to sign in to your account to complete the redemption.

    • 6. Where can I access my account?

    • 7. When are the points allocated?


      It takes 24-48 hours after the charge has appeared on your account to reflect in the Membership Rewards account points balance.

    • 8. What are forfeited points?


      Forfeited points are Membership Rewards points that have been forfeited due to a Card payment not being received within 40 days of the statement closing date (for example, your Account is 40 days or more overdue in terms of payment).

    • 9. How do I reinstate forfeited points?


      You are able to have points reinstated within 90 days of your original statement date or points will expire. There are 2 options to have points reinstated:

        1) click here to reinstate them online; or
        2) call Membership Rewards on 0800 656 660 between 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday.

      Please note: A fee applies to reinstate Membership Rewards points. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page for further information on forfeited points.
